The Best Man's Speech

We watch each Best Man's speech at least three times, - once on the day, once during the rough edit and then again for the fine edit.

Here are some thoughts about the ones that seem to work best.

You could, of course, ignore all of this and still come up with a great speech!

You might

- avoid jokes found online unless you have great comic timing and can deliver them really well;
- show how well you know the Groom and why you like him;
- avoid giving more time to the Groom's misdeeds than to his positive side;
- avoid long, rambling anecdotes;
- aim to finish in around eight minutes;
- rehearse a few times aloud with the dog or cat as an audience to build your confidence;
- not worry too much about audience reaction: they are generally very forgiving even when things aren't perfect!

Good luck!
